16. Their Eyes Were Watching God

Pg. 21. “She was back and forth to the pear tree continuously wondering and thinking.”

Janie continues to go back to the pear tree like she is consulting her dreams. Is marrying out of force worth it? She needs a calm place to go to, a solid place that doesn’t change. She knows what she wants, but she needs to comfort her grandmother before she passes. Janie believes that she will love Logan after they are married because the elders said so. She was still too young to know how to love someone - or how to be capable of love.
