3. Their Eyes Were Watching God

Pg. 3 “...she could stop and say a few words with us. She act like we done done something to her...” 

Janie, the woman that the people criticize, knows that the people are judging her. Ironically, Lulu Moss, the woman talking, thinks that gossiping over Janie’s life isn’t doing something to her. Janie probably doesn’t feel the need to stop and answer everyone’s gossip because it would simply give them more reasons to talk.
